With just one day of hard work, we brought life back into this old English-style garden!

To frame the borders of this Bernal Heights backyard we planted six large Pacific Wax Myrtles (Myrica californica), which will grow into fantastic privacy screens in addition to producing small berries that the birds will love!
Moving onto our lower shrubs, our design features beautiful California Bush Sunflowers (Encelia californica) and the striking foliage and shedding bark of Sunset Manzanitas (Arctostaphylos x ‘Sunset’).
Finally, we rounded it all off with ground covers that are sure to create a pollinator paradise - Our local Narrow-leaved Milkweed (Asclepias fascicularis) will create habitat for monarch caterpillars, while its showy white blooms will attract lots of native bees! Joining our milkweeds are Coyote Mint (Monardella villosa x purpurea), California Fuchsia (Epilobium canum ‘Everett’s choice’), and lastly, Red flowering Buckwheat (Eriogonum grande x rubescens)!
